The phyCORE-Vybrid SOM supports the NXP VF5xx and VF6xx controller solutions offering a sophisticated human-machine interface, multiple connectivity options, integrated power management, powerful peripherals, and concurrent real-time control. The 240-pin interconnect provides access to a number of dual interfaces including USB 2.0 OTG, Ethernet, CAN, and display.

The Vybrid Processor Family

The NXP VFxxx family of processors span from cost-effective single core ARM® Cortex™-A5 chips to highly integrated heterogeneous dual-core solutions incorporating the ARM® Cortex™-M4 processor for low-power offload and real-time responsiveness. Features of the all-in-one chip include large on-chip SRAM for enhanced code and data execution, dual Quad SPI interface with execute-in-place to support high throughput of DDR access, and full peripheral set.

The phyCORE SOM is designed to plug into a PHYTEC Carrier Board that provides the I/O connectors as well as any other interface circuitry not provided on the phyCORE module itself.

SOM Features

The phyCORE-Vybrid SOM included in the phyCORE-Vybrid kit is populated with the Freescale VF6xxx processor featuring asymmetrical-multiprocessing from the ARM® Cortex™-A5 and Cortex™-M4 cores , 256 MB DDR3, 32 MB NOR-Flash, 512 MB NAND-Flash, 32 KB EEPROM, as well as dual Ethernet, dual CAN, and RS-232.

  • Bare PCB expansion board that plugs into the Carrier Board for rapid prototyping
