The NXP i.MX 8M family of application processors provide a vast offering of solutions with respect to features and performance. The dual, quad, and quad lite platforms are based on Arm® Cortex®-A53, and Cortex-M4.

Lower profile through BGA SOM technology

The phyCORE-i.MX 8M features PHYTEC Ball Grid Array (BGA) SOM technology. Instead of connectors the SOM uses a BGA to interface with the carrier board. The BGA technology allows for reduced cost due to no connectors and a lower profile. PHYTEC offers a footprint and services to assist in integrating this BGA SOM into custom carrier boards.

Various multimedia options

The power of the phyCORE-i.MX 8M SOM is in the technology that NXP has packed into the processor. The SOM features video quality with full 4K UltraHD resolution and HDR (Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG). The highest levels of pro audio fidelity with more than 20 audio channels each @ 384KHz, and DSD512 audio capability.

Software that is specifically designed for its hardware

PHYTEC Board Support Packages (BSPs) are software bundles that implement and support operating systems on our System on Modules. PHYTEC BSPs are application development-ready, offering all essential drivers and board-level feature support. The only task left for you is application integration. This way, you can focus on your core competencies while we take care of the rest.

Small footprint for small enclosures

With dimensions of 55 mm x 40 mm it is well suited for small enclosures. In addition NXP has engineered the i.MX 8M processor to be optimized for fanless operation, low thermal system cost, and long battery life.
