Product Overview

The phyCORE-i.MX 8 is a revolutionary SOM that offers consolidation of complex systems into one board to save on space and cost. A typical modern application can consist of a high performance compute core to run an OS like Linux, microcontroller to perform real time tasks and controls, as well as specific chips like DSPs and FPGAs. With Quad-core Cortex-A53 and Dual-core Cortex-A72, the phyCORE-i.MX 8 SOM has the capability to run two operating systems and replace two applications processor platforms. In addition, dual Cortex-M4F cores can run independent real time operating systems and an on-chip DSP can be optimized for advanced audio and speech recognition. Paired with the feature rich interconnect including high speed interfaces such as dual PCIe 3.0, USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, and up to four display interfaces – the phyCORE-i.MX 8 SOM can replace multiple PCBAs in your system.

Layers of Processing Power

Dual Arm Cortex-A72 and Quad Cortex-A53 make the NXP i.MX 8 a high performing power house. Additional dual Cortex-M4F cores can be used to off load time-critical tasks.

Extensive Interconnect

The phyCORE-i.MX 8 leads connectorized SOMs when it comes pinout. 480-pins are available from the two rugged board to board connectors.

High Speed Interface Support

All the highest speed peripherals from the NXP i.MX 8 family combined including dual PCIe 3.0, SATA3, USB 3.0, and dual Gigabit Ethernet.

Advanced Vision and Multimedia

The phyCORE-i.MX 8 leads the industry in multimedia capabilities with up to four HD displays (or one 4k display), HDMI in, h.265 4K decoding, 1080p h.264 encoding, and supports OpenGL ES 3.1, OpenVX, OpenCL, and Vulkan frameworks.
